THE ENCLOSED TRAILER RE-CONSTRUCTION
The trailer was built in Western Australia, it was too high, Too heavy and just of poor construction so we had the job to make it right, first was to re-design it and that meant lowering the roof to accommodate the boat??
Once the trailer was stripped of the skin panels it was cut down in height by 500mm in front and 350mm at the rear, thought we better check the Pajero 4 x 4 was going to fit before we finish welding it all together again. "nice and snug".
With the trailer re-sheeted in fibreglass and braced up hydraulic rams were fitted to lift the tailgate replacing the original gas struts giving us a positive open and closing action that can be done single handed.
The trailer is tilt able via the hydraulic ram mounted up front, this is now also double acting with the control valve via the forward access door. The side access door provides ample room to exit the Pajero when loaded.
Once tilted the tailgate is raised to position for the ramps to be extended for loading / unloading the boat.
With the winch rope attached the boat is then pulled up the ramps toward the roof of the trailer, small removable wheels have been fitted to the boat trailer to stop the outboard motor bottoming out.
Not really as scary as it looks, everything worked as designed first time.
With the boat in place it's quite an imposing construction, total height 4.1m to the bow rail.
View of the ramps in the stowed position and of the walk way which folds down to allow easy access to tie down the boat trailer.
Tie downs on either side secure the boat trailer, cradles were fitted to limit the forward movement of the trailer while the tow ball up front provided three point anchoring to the entire unit.
2 x 150 watt solar panels are fitted to either side of the trailer to provide charge to the hydraulic pump battery, these are an aluminium backed, ultra thin and extremely light weight solar panel available up to 200 watt, enquire today about how we can solve your solar power requirements.
